In Honor of a Would-Be Birthday
Today would be my daughter’s ninth birthday if 2013 included a February with twenty-nine days. If you’re a regular follower of Story Matters, you may remember Madeline as the second child I wasn’t sure I wanted. Her beginnings, and her status as a Leapling, are just two of the many things that makes her story unique.
Reminds me of a Max Lucado quote:
Your life has a plot;
Your years have a theme.
You can do something in a manner no one else can.
In honor of my beloved daughter’s would-be birthday, I hope you’ll take two minutes to consider all that makes your story unique. What can you do in a manner no one else can? Maybe you’ll even jot down a few of those uniquenesses. I’ll bet your family would like to know them. And then I hope you’ll take a few more minutes to thank your Creator for making you one-of-a-kind.
Thanks to all of you who participated by leaving comments on my blog this month. Your names were entered into a random drawing to win a free bag of fabulous Storytime Java or sipping chocolate. And the winner is: Lynn Conver! Congratulations! I’ll be in touch to place your order. 🙂
As one who knew you when, you’ve always been able to do things in a manner no one else can. Of course, this is possible for all of us, the trick is believing it, and realizing that even if no one else notices, there is One who sees.
My own personal cross. Believing and knowing in my heart that what I do, the way I am made to do it, is enough, even if no one sees.
You’re an inspiration. Thanks for this post, and especially for the link to the very personal one about the faith that created your daughter.
You did know me when, which delights me still. 🙂 Thank you too for sharing something of yourself, a struggle so many of us share. I certainly do. It means a lot to hear from you here. Treasuring your words…
Great blog and love the photo of your little girl writing…
We have great hopes for her…in so many ways! I love this photo too. Quintessential Madeline. 🙂
