A little update
Friends, if you thought things have been a little quieter on the blog lately, you thought rightly. That’s because after releasing two novels in a row, I found I needed a year to step back, take a bit of a breather, and evaluate where all things writerly were headed.
I’m happy to report it’s been a good year. A great year, actually, with lots of positive changes happening at home with the fam and with my work. I’ve also been doing a lot of satisfying digging into my family’s history, which amounts to a different kind of storytelling that I’m pretty excited about. I’ll likely be posting bits and pieces about that as time goes on.
Here are a few more things you can expect from me over the next year:
On the blog
Last week’s book review for Catherine McNiel’s All Shall Be Well was my last. Moving forward, I’ll continue to post about books but not as reviews. Expect to see an occasional author Q&A. I will also continue to feature books by authors I think you will enjoy. (There’s one coming up in September that I’m especially excited about — a redemption-story memoir that’s been years in the making. Well-worth the wait!) And there will be a occasional update about my own work, as well as some things that, I hope, will serve to enhance your reading life.
By the way, if you’d like to know more about the books I’m reading, please follow me on Goodreads. There, I rate all books I read, including audiobooks, and often provide a quick review.
WIP
Many readers have asked if I’ve got a new work in progress. The answer is yes! While set in contemporary times, the story reaches back to touch on the greatest avalanche disaster in American history, an event that, despite its devastation, few have ever heard about. It will contain a bit of suspense, a bit of romance, and it won’t be afraid to explore complex relational issues. Like my other two novels, this one finds its setting in the Pacific Northwest. It also contains a global accent — in Africa. I have a feeling that my current interest in genealogical research may likely influence the storyline.
Published books
As for Her Memory of Music and Shadow Sister, I’ll have a couple of updates heading your way shortly. A teaser: My debut novel is soon to be part of a giant, multi-author, end-of-summer giveaway that you won’t want to miss.
Stay tuned!
Yay! So glad you have a WIP! I always appreciate your updates. On a personal note, may I please get on your dance card for an author Q&A next spring? Here’s the hook: “First time author publishes debut work at age 66!” 🙂 . True story, too.
Thank you, Maggie! And YES, I’m counting on it. Absolutely gotcha covered. And very much looking forward to it too. xo
