About this book: (from the publisher) Bestselling author Max Lucado has teamed up with six authors to write the Pocket Prayers series for those in need of peace, renewal, rest, faith, hope, joy, direction, serenity, and courage.

-Grads (written with daughter Andrea Lucado)
-Dads (written with Mark Mynheir)
-Military Life (written with Mark Mynheir)
-Teachers (written with blogger Jennifer Hale)
-Friends (written with Betsy St. Amant)
About the author: More than 120 million readers have found inspiration and encouragement in the writings of Max Lucado. He lives with his wife, Denalyn, and their mischievous mutt, Andy, in San Antonio, Texas, where he serves the people of Oak Hills Church.

Reflection: Gift-giving is one of my love languages. Which means I’m always on the lookout for creative, thoughtful gifts for blessing my loved ones. Which explains my delight when I heard about these little guys. Six books to provide the perfect complement to a gift card or money.
Timely too, because — heads up! — we’re right on the cusp of a new season of gift-giving:
- Teacher Appreciation Day—May 3
- Mother’s Day—May 8
- Memorial Day—May 30
- Father’s Day—June 19
- Graduation—months of May & June
- Friends—birthdays or anytime
While at 5 1/2-inches square, I’d say these books are really too big for pockets, they’re still small enough to easily tuck into a tote, or to keep atop a desk for handy reference and refreshment.
These are the recipients on my list:
Pocket Prayers for Teachers: 40 Simple Prayers that Bring Peace and Renewal… goes to my daughter’s teacher, her last one in primary school. We’ve been so blessed by Mrs. Reed and are grateful to know she shares our faith.
Pocket Prayers for Graduates: 40 Simple Prayers that Bring Hope and Direction… goes to our sweet niece, Lauryn, who — unbelievably (how fast it happens!) is finishing her high school studies this June. She’ll be continuing her education at a university in the fall.
Pocket Prayers for Military Life: 40 Simple Prayers that Bring Faith and Courage… goes to the dear son of a cherished friend. Carter has embraced his calling as a military chaplain with grace and fortitude.
Pocket Prayers for Moms: 40 Simple Prayers that Bring Peace and Rest… goes to our kids’ former, favorite babysitter, who is now expecting a baby of her own. Kaylene was a valued part of our family life from the time our kids entered the world, until they no longer needed sitting.
Pocket Prayers for Friends: 40 Simple Prayers that Bring Joy and Serenity… I’m so richly blessed with so many great friends, it makes this one hard to choose. But it goes to my friend Linda — a new-ish friend, but one I am quickly coming to love. She’s wise and fun, and has a knack for listening and asking just the right questions. Plus, she’s been invaluable in providing advice and encouragement for my family in a time of transition.
Pocket Prayers for Dads: 40 Simple Prayers that Bring Strength and Faith… goes to our kids’ youth pastor. Noah is the young dad of a young child and yet he still manages to shepherd our kids with humor, wisdom, and admirable patience.
