One of my life’s joys is connecting with people, and when I’m able to do that face-to-face, so much the better! I love that God has created us for relationship; that we learn and grow best when it’s with and through each other. Me from you, and you from me.
So let’s talk!
As a World Vision Child Ambassador, former writing instructor, and church leader, I’m an experienced public speaker. Whether to a small gathering of women chatting over coffee in someone’s living room, or a larger group at a church Bible study or cabin retreat, I gear each speaking opportunity to fit the unique character of my audience.
I’m available to speak at:
- Book clubs
- Women’s retreats
- Community Outreach Events
- Church Events/Worship Services
I’m able to speak on a variety of topics, including…
Start Here: The Art of Making a World of Difference Right Where You Are. No matter our calling—whether to serve people at home, in our communities, or out in the big, wide world—sometimes we wonder if we can really make a difference. Truth is, while no one can do everything, everybody can do one thing. In this motivational message, we’ll talk about identifying your heart’s cry, discovering your unique voice, walking out your calling in faith.
Raising Up a Girl. While we value every member of society, including both boys and girls, the truth is that in many places in the world, girls reside on the lowest rung of the societal ladder. In this informative talk, we’ll discuss why empowering girls matters, how it lifts up all members of society when we do, and practical ways you and I can make a world of difference.
Child Sponsorship. As a trained World Vision Child Ambassador, I welcome any opportunity to present the benefits of child sponsorship to any size group. My message can be tailored to focus on any one of several specific world-wide issues, including clean water, maternal and child health, the Syrian refugee crisis, and child protection.
On Writing. Tailored to fit your group’s needs, this workshop combines inspirational elements with all things practical. We’ll discuss the art of crafting a novel, giving your characters an authentic voice, finding time to write, publishing the indie way, blogging and social media (and making it work for you), as well as how to start your own writers group.
Created to Create. We sometimes hear that we’re happiest when we’re creating, but are we? If so, why—and what does that say about our Creator God, in whose image we are made? What is “flow,” and what evidence suggests that creativity reduces stress and anxiety? Is there a downside to creativity? We’ll discuss all this and more in this informative and inspirational session that explores creativity, its benefits, and why it’s not an activity limited to “creatives” only.
Making World Travel a Family Value. Our family has traveled the world together since our kids were very young—and more importantly, enjoyed the experience. We’re an ordinary, middle-class family that has made world travel a budgeting priority. Why undertake the expense and, yes, sometimes stress of traveling the globe with children? In this inspirational presentation, we’ll discuss the benefits of traveling with kids, including how it shapes their faith and worldview, and bonds us as a family. I’ll offer plenty of practical tips for saving money and gaining affordability, plus tried-and-true tricks for handling travel challenges.
